About Peter

Contemporary Irish artist, Peter Cosgrave, was born in Dublin, Ireland. Peter studied at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. He was awarded a Fulbright scholarship in 1986 to study at the Academy of Art College, San Francisco. Peter came to Australia in 1986 and worked on the Australian Bicentenary event as leading hand set builder for First State ’88 at Darling Harbour. He has traveled throughout Australia and worked at Balgo (Wirrunanu) community, Great Sandy Desert W.A.

He has been influenced by social, political and  environmental issues, this is reflected within his art and installations. His work is spectator and participant activated using lighting, sound, smells and spectators reaction within his installations. His paintings reflect the beauty of nature and our environment.
